Liver-Directed Therapy

What is Y90 radioembolization?

Y90 is a catheter-based liver treatment that delivers radioactive microspheres through hepatic arteries to selected tumors while limiting radiation to the rest of the body.

Y90 is planned in stages.

Mapping

Angiography helps define the liver arterial anatomy and plan a safe treatment.

Treatment

Microspheres carrying yttrium-90 are delivered through a catheter into selected hepatic arteries.

What it treats

Y90 may be used for selected liver tumors depending on diagnosis, distribution and treatment goals.

What decides candidacy

Liver function, tumor burden, anatomy, prior therapy and the broader oncology plan all matter.
