Heavy Bleeding

When is heavy menstrual bleeding more than “just a bad period”?

Heavy bleeding can come from fibroids, adenomyosis, hormonal causes, polyps, bleeding disorders and other conditions. The treatment depends on the cause.

Heavy bleeding deserves a cause, not just a label.

Clues to ask about

Clots, soaking protection frequently, prolonged bleeding, fatigue, shortness of breath and iron-deficiency anemia.

Why imaging matters

Ultrasound or MRI can help identify fibroids, adenomyosis and other structural explanations.

UFE is not a treatment for every cause of heavy bleeding. It is a fibroid treatment when fibroids are actually driving the problem.
