WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MINIMALLY INVASIVE TREATMENT
Hospital-based physician • Board-certified • Personalized care
Feeling uncertain before a medical procedure is completely normal.
Many patients tell us their biggest concern isn’t the procedure itself — it’s simply not knowing what will happen.
Our goal is to make the process clear, predictable, and as comfortable as possible, from the first conversation through recovery.
What “Minimally Invasive” Means
Minimally invasive treatments are performed using advanced imaging guidance through a small access point, rather than traditional surgery.
For many patients, this means:
-
No large incisions
-
Less pain than surgery
-
Shorter recovery time
-
Same-day or short hospital stays
These procedures are designed to treat the problem while minimizing disruption to your daily life.
Before Your Procedure
Before any treatment, we take time to understand you, not just imaging or test results.
This typically includes:
-
Reviewing your symptoms and medical history
-
Reviewing prior imaging (or ordering additional imaging if needed)
-
Coordinating care with your other physicians when appropriate
-
Discussing options, risks, and alternatives clearly.
You’ll receive:
-
Simple pre-procedure instructions
-
Clear guidance on medications
-
Time to ask questions and discuss concerns
-
Nothing moves forward unless you feel informed and comfortable.
Imaging & Procedure Planning
Many minimally invasive treatments require imaging review prior to treatment planning. Depending on your condition, this may include MRI, CT, ultrasound, or vascular imaging to better evaluate candidacy and guide personalized care.
Advanced imaging services are provided in collaboration with Pueblo Radiology Medical Group and Cottage Health.
The Day of the Procedure
On the day of your procedure:
-
You arrive at the hospital or outpatient center
-
You are checked in and made comfortable
-
Sedation is used to help you relax
-
The procedure typically lasts 1–2 hours, depending on the treatment.
A nurse and physician are with you throughout the process, monitoring your comfort and safety.
Most patients are surprised by how straightforward the experience feels.
After the Procedure
After the procedure:
-
You’ll rest while we monitor you
-
Most patients go home the same day or after a short observation period
-
Mild soreness, cramping, or fatigue is common and expected
-
Pain is usually well controlled with medication
Before you leave, you’ll receive:
-
Clear discharge instructions
-
Guidance on activity and medications
-
Follow-up plans so you know exactly what comes next
Recovery at Home
Recovery is usually much faster than surgery, but everyone heals at their own pace.
Most patients:
-
Resume light activity within a few days
-
Gradually return to normal routines
-
Notice symptom improvement over weeks, not overnight
We encourage patients to take recovery one step at a time and to reach out with questions along the way.
Is This the Right Option for Everyone?
Not every patient is a candidate for minimally invasive treatment.
We consider:
-
Anatomy and imaging findings
-
Other medical conditions
-
Prior treatments
-
Your goals and preferences
Our role is to help you make the right decision, not to push a procedure.
What Patients Often Tell Us
Many patients share that:
-
The experience felt easier than expected
-
Recovery was quicker than they anticipated
-
Having clear explanations reduced anxiety
Knowing what to expect often makes the biggest difference.
